Real Estate Sewer Meaning
When you’re looking at homes in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area, there are two main types of sewers that we have. The first sewer is a connected sewer, which means that the sewage lines are connected to the public lines at the street. If the home is on sewer, then this means that you will have a septic tank. Septic tanks are usually located in the backyard, and you’ll need to make sure you know how to take care of the septic tank in order for its lifespan to be as long as possible.
The Birmingham, Alabama area also does have a third, less common sewer: the grinding pump. A grinding pump takes the sewage from the home and pushes it out to the public lines at the street. Be sure when you’re looking for a home that you find out what kind of sewer it is on!
