How Long Does it Take to Close?

How long does it take to close on a home? Well, there are a few different variables to take into account. Let’s go over how long you can expect the closing process on a home to take depending on your situation, in this video, “How Long Does it Take to Close?”:

How Long Does it Take to Close on a Home?

When you’re closing on a home, the time it can take to close varies on different factors. For example, if you’re paying for a home with cash, then you can close on a home within 1-2 weeks. If you are getting a conventional loan to pay for your home, then this type of loan usually takes 30 days. Whereas an FHA loan can take between 30 – 45 days to close on a home. A VA loan also can take 30 – 45 days to close on.

In some cases you may need a USDA loan (which is usually reserved for rural areas), and these types of loans typically take 45 days to close. Of course, keep in mind that you can have a longer closing period added to the contract if you need more time, as long as the seller and the buyer agree to this. Talk to your real estate agent if you think you’ll need a longer closing period.

While these are the typical time frames for each type of loan, your lender can give you more information on the timeframe it will take to close. So work closely with your lender on this.
